Review: Crushing Misery by Kinsey Taylor

Crushing Misery
by Kinsey Taylor

Shades of Misery
Book One

~~Selina's 2.5 Star Review~~

*I was given a copy for an honest review*
Crushing Misery started off with Kennedy’s haunting past.  The prologue had piqued my interest and seemed very promising.  However, reading the first chapter and getting Kennedy’s and Corbin’s perspective, I realized the starting was pretty rough.

There were some positive and negative points in this book.
Kinsey Taylor has the right story making talent and materials to write a great story, I just feel Kinsey needs a bit more direction and formula.

A.)   There were too many people talking and was hard to keep track of who was whom.
B.)    There were times the sentences were a bit repetitive.

It’s hard to have a crush on a male character when he’s kind of whiny.  I get that having an emotionally unavailable male is kind of a woman’s things but his character seemed to be a little annoying at times.  There was just the missing X factor.  There seemed to be a missing connection from the main male character Corbin and Kennedy.  Also there seemed to be a bit of a disconnection to us, the readers.

I will admit that I had a hard time getting into this book.  I want to mention that I’m not trying to be destructive here, I’m trying to provide constructive criticism and I hope that this is being taken that was.

I also would have recommended an editor or a different one.  There were quite a few errors that could have been fixed with spell check.

The story itself has a ton of potential.  I liked that the female character Kennedy had to go through so much to overcome her past.  So, in the end I would recommend an editor and maybe have some new Beta readers go through it again.  I find that if you have someone read your story that you do not know and they would have no problem giving you their honest opinions, you should use them.

Blog Tour:TYRANT by T.M. Fazier

King and Pup are back in this exciting conclusion to the King Series by T.M. Frazier releasing August 17th!

NOW AVAILABLE

~~Selina's 5 Star Review~~

*I have received an ARC for an honest review*

How can I put into words the emotional roller-freaking-coaster I was in while reading this book.  TYRANT by T.M. Frazier is the second book.  The first is KING.  I was brought to an emotional level when I first read King and thought I couldn’t be any worse for wear.  Wrong!  I was completely ruined by TYRANT.  I got to hang out with most of everyone from KING.  If you’ve read KING then you know who I was pussyfooting around.  I thought I’ve read devastation before.  I’ve cried, laughed and have been spitting anger before, but never have I been so crushed by a novel.  There are things that happen is this book.  Things that can break your heart and leave it splintered into a million bloody pathetic pieces.

When I started TYRANT I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to forgive King.  Even though I love that bastard, he still did something that I would have a hard time to forgive in KING.  Then reading TYRANT the situation was put into better perspective…meaning King did his thing and all was forgiven.  I can’t stay mad at him for long.  I mean come ON, he’s Mother f*cking KING.

In TYRANT we are brought into Doe/Ramie’s world.  She doesn’t remember anything and with everyone wanting to just write it off like it never existed, she’s having a hard time trying to fit in.  She feels like she doesn’t belong and in a way she doesn’t.  She’s not this Ramie the people in her life are calling her.  She’s pup, King’s pup actually.

With time, somethings are becoming familiar but her memory is still lost.  Until one day she remembers something or better yet…Someone.  Things are slowly coming back to her but will it be in enough time?  Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, please.  Think again.

Remember…Don’t Trust the TYRANT

Review: Say Something by T.A. Roth

Title: Say Something

Author: T.A. Roth

Available on
and
Kindle Unlimited

~~ Selina's 4 star Review~~

*I have received an ARC for an honest review*

Say Something is about a girl who struggles with a past that won’t go away. She lives with the fact that not everything appears to be all sunshine and white roses because sometimes those roses welt and the sun gets pushed aside.  Sometimes those who are supposed to care for us and teach us are in fact the Devil incarnate.

Meet Ben; he is the Alpha on his college campus and the football team’s number one star.  Ben is the guy that’s going places and doesn’t have to work hard to get what he wants.

Meet Ari; she is the sweet girl who is working hard for her future.  She doesn’t form many attachments and has a heart made out of steel.  At least before she meet Ben that is.  However, she’s living with a secret.

First, let me start off by saying that I loved this book.  The characters where grounded as much as young adults could be without the characters being too “old”.  This book is the take hold of your heart and squeeze it until you can’t breath and then when you think your poor heart can’t take any more, it squeezes harder.  I’m not a “speed reader” but I do read at a really good pace.  I devoured this book in one night and had one hell of a hangover the next day at work.  This book has everything- love, hate, betrayal, backstabbing, kindness, adventure, suspense and more.  The best part…There’s more to come.  Yes, this book has a cliffhanger and normally I don’t do cliffhangers.  But, if you don’t read this book because of that then you are seriously missing out.  It would be a shame, honestly.  There is tons of drama that it’s just enough to not be over the top.  I would recommend this to my friends.  In fact I’m recommending it to you now.
