~~Synopsis~~

From what was never meant to be, can they become whom they must, in order to survive?

Amira has been trained from birth to become the ruler of the Nephilim and their island sanctuary. She is the perfect princess, until her birthright and even her fundamental beliefs are ripped away. She’ll learn perfection and training count for nothing when faced with a ruthless enemy determined to possess her and all she holds dear. Does she have the fortitude and inner strength needed to regain her kingdom and save her people?

Sometimes you have to stop fighting in order to win.

As captain of the Royal Guard, Caeden’s priority is to protect the Royal Family. Sometimes that means protecting the naive princess from her own desires, even if he is tempted to give in. When a betrayer strikes from within, their sanctuary and very existence are threatened. Caeden must overcome the burning pain of helplessness to defeat this enemy and restore Amira to her rightful place. He will not fail his princess again.

~~Selina's Review~~
4 1/2 Stars

Where the heck has V. Cantrell been all my life?  One moment I'm getting comfy for bed while whipping out my kindle to start Divine Merit and the next moment the damn birds are chirping.  I could NOT put the book down!  V. Cantrell is an author to look out for.  This book surprised me in a few ways.  ONE being its a paranormal romance and it's hard to find that type of genre, where the author doesn't just go off the walls into a different reality. V. Cantrell did a wonderful job of adding just enough fantasy, paranormal, suspense and romance.

The story line had a great flow and characters that just wouldn't stop making me giggle.  The pace and build up in Divine Merit was like a hot fudge sundae, just perfect.  I also enjoyed the back and forth banter between characters.

There were a few spots in the book where the POV between characters blended together.  There were no breaks, so you thought for a moment the characters were in the same room.  However it wasn't anything too bad where it put a huge damper on the flow of the novel.

Amira is the Princess.  She's a gentle soul with some backbone.  She reminds me of that one friend in high school who was so sweet and quiet.  Seemed so gentle and fragile as the finest porcelain but piss her off and you're looking at titanium.  Ready to show you a thing or two.

Caeden is the Captain of the Royal Guard.  Amira's Royal Guard.  Hint Hint, Wink Wink...  Yeah that was awkward, sorry. So, he's this brooding, gorgeous, stubborn, loyal to a fault,
honorable man and I'm in love.  I'm sorry but I have a huge weakness for men who attempt to be bossy.  It's cute.  They try so hard...

Book One ( Divine Merit) is about the Nephilim, children of the Angels.  They have their own little Island that's protected from the outside world.  The Royal Family has been blessed by the Angels to protect their own kind but when someone threatens that peace of mind, the Princess has to look deep within herself for strength.  Amira experiences many challenges she thought she would never have to go through, as well as depend on people she's known her whole life but never really knew.

So, if you love reading about Princesses and the psychos who are after her and a hot as sin Alpha Male protecting her, as well as finding your inner strength?  Then this book is most definitely for you.  Take a chance, I think you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

~~About the Author~~

Virginia's greatest passion has always been fiction, particularly romance.  The innocent in her loves the idea of a happily-ever-after, but she has a massive soft spot for the bad boys.  If you ask her, she'll tell you that she's living her dream— getting paid to read and helping indie authors to create beauty by working as an editor for Hot Tree Editing. She's inspired by the many amazing indie authors she has met and has (finally) found the courage to follow her other dream by becoming a published author.

She graduated from Eastfield College and lives in a small town in Texas with her husband, two children, and her two playful pups, Reeses and Pancake.  She works full-time in the real world, as well as being an editor, and struggles to find balance, but often times resorts to escaping into a good book.  She has learned to accept and even embrace her one-click compulsion/addiction.
