After a few years, she shut off, giving up hope that anyone would ever find her. Until her luck changed one night and she escaped. Twelve years later, she finally feels something she hasn’t felt in a long time… Free.

Scared that her past will find her unexpectedly, she hides away in a rented beach house, trying to distance herself from everyone… Until Dr. Cameron Bowen enters her world and slowly tears down the walls that she has built up over the past twelve years of her captivity. Jolene begins to learn to love again.

And trust again.

But when a man from Jolene’s past emerges, will she be able to keep her identity hidden? When lies are told and hearts are broken, will the truth surface in time to bring Jolene back from the shadows that threaten to expose who she really is?

Heart of Light is a captivating story of love, strength, and survival.

~~4 Star Review~~

Heart of light by T.K. Leigh… How do I go into this without writing a novel myself instead of a review?  This novel is a standalone but a type of spin off from her previous Beautiful Mess series.  This book brings light to the very horrible truth about human trafficking.  We go on a journey with one very special character, Jolene.  We experience some insights on what she had lived with and continuously suffers through.  You can’t come out the same person from reading something like this.  This was a very power novel.

Jolene is someone who had suffered through the unimaginable torture through the hands of a monster.  Something that should have been a special day turns out to be the turning point in her fate.  T.K. Leigh was able to make me feel every emotion under the sun.  Betrayal, pain, hurt, unloved, loss, bitterness, loathing, relief, happy, excited and then the most important…hope.

There were a few things that I had issues with.  I’m an equal judger.  I have problems with both sexes doing things that seem to be out of character.  I felt that Jolene forgave Cameron a little too easily in a certain situation.  Some of the things that were said between characters, which lead to a horrible situation, were something, I felt, that should have had an intermission.  There needed to be some kind of reflection for the characters after, where they needed to take a step back and find growth between characters.  The recovery rate from a tragedy so severe seemed a bit rushed.

Now here’s where it gets a bit real.  This isn’t your contemporary romance.  It’s dark.  You ever experience a situation where something horrible happens?  You don’t know what, but you know it is just going to rip your heart out?  And it doesn’t matter that you don’t want to hear the truth.  It doesn’t matter that you want to go on with your life living like nothing ever happened.  Like if you don’t hear the truth, than it doesn’t exist.  This novel was that news.  That horrible news that just slaps you right in your face and won’t let up until you hear everything that needs to be heard.  And boy did I hear.  I heard everything and it has shed some light on situations I have only ever seen in movies.

I am standing up and applauding you, T.K. Leigh, for doing such a fantastic job bringing us such a fantastic novel.  It’s been awhile since I have read a book where it makes you appreciate what you have in life.

Broken By Love
Book 2
By C.A. Harms

~~Synopsis ~~

Kate thought she and Carson had finally reached level ground. They had moved in together and were preparing for the arrival of their baby.

She never thought they would only be driven further apart by his withdrawn and distant behavior.

Carson had always had his freedom, and for a moment, he thought he could still live that life.

Only Kate needs more. She can no longer pretend that what he’s willing to offer is enough.

By the time Carson finally realizes that Kate deserves a better life than he’s been giving her, it may be too late.

He may have finally pushed her away to the point of no return…

~~Selina's~~
~~4 Star Review~~

Broken by Love is about a couple who have been struggling to grow as a family when they have a baby on the way.  Carson and Kate were introduced in the first book Scarred by Love (book one). Carson is one of Riley’s older brothers and Kate is Riley’s best friend.  The second book starts out with Kate hitting her breaking point with all the crap Carson puts her through.  Shes pregnant and scared and isn't getting the support she needs from the one person who is supposed to be there.

Kate is this strong, no filter, with one hell of a backbone woman.  I love reading about woman who stick to what they know needs to happen.  I’m sick of reading about woman who end up going back to the men and forgiving without putting their foot down. I really enjoyed reading about this couple.  In the first book you got some side story about Carson and Kate and you wanted more and in Broken by love you got just that and then some.

Carson is the grown ass man child who isn't ready to give up his freedom.  He knows he’s being selfish but not completely understanding that what he’s doing could possibly have irrevocable consequences.

"Married, fuck no.  I saw how that shit changed Mason.  Now I was following in his exact footsteps, and it terrified me.  I wasn't ready to let go of the freedom of being young."- Carson

This was a bit of an emotional read.  Emotional being, I felt for Kate in her journey from everything that has been happening with Carson and not knowing where that’s going to lead and to her family and the troubles they bring.  I did like reading about Carson’s brothers.  Although I did like getting tid bits about the brothers, I was left having an urge to slap my Kindle.  I just wanted to knock some sense into them boys!

The developments from the plot of the story to the characters were pretty creative.  And that little mind crap that happens to Kate towards the end with her family really made the book more interesting.  I love curve balls and that was well orchestrated and played great in this book.

The writing for this book was pretty smooth.  I liked the characters make up in this novel more than I did with C.A. Harms first book in Scarred by Love.  The characters were a bit more mature and had believable confrontations.  The story had some grammar errors but other than that I enjoyed this quick read.

Can’t wait to read Max’s story…that little Shit

SYNOPSIS:

There are two things in this life that Gus Brannock truly loves; his family and his job. His family is growing and he wants what his brother and sister have before the job he's worked so hard for takes its toll. The woman he's got his eye on, however, isn't interested in being with a man who risks his life every day. When the unexpected friendship with the sassy red head he used to hate turns into something Gus just doesn't want to live without, he will do whatever it takes to have her. The hazards of his job as a detective for missing children may end up proving to be too much, but there's a reason Aiden was brought into his life and nothing will stand in his way to keep her there.
Aiden Murphy used to hate the handsome jerk next door until a surprising discovery spun her world in another direction. Her life of devotion to her sister and niece has been her biggest strength with the exception of her art. That is, until Gus turns out to be the one thing that has been missing from that life all along. Aiden must decide if the unknown is worth the risk of loving the dedicated detective or if being pulled into his world is more than she can handle. When Gus becomes the only way for her to keep the people she loves most safe, will she understand why he treasures her untried strength or will she let her fear of the unknown decide for her?
For readers 18+ due to strong language and sexual situations.

Excerpt:

I checked my phone once more and saw that there was a text that had come in while I was lost in my thoughts.
MysteryGirl: Almost there.
I have never been nervous for a date before, but this one was important. It was the first time I had been completely honest with a woman about my past and the first time the woman knew that this wasn't just about getting into bed together.
She may not know specific details, but she knew enough about me. She knew details about my past that no one else did and it had taken a huge weight off of my shoulders. She liked me for me, no matter what - or who - I had done before her. It was refreshing and very necessary for me now that I had watched Ash and Con's lives change so much because they had found the one. I wanted that for me and I was going to get it no matter the cost.
I waited for another few minutes when I saw a flash of red outside the window next to me.
Aiden was scurrying down the sidewalk in the dark green dress I saw her carrying the day before. And just like I had thought it would the day before, it looked really good on her. It stopped just above her knees, showing off the creamy skin of her toned legs, and the shoes she was wearing… those heels made her legs look miles long. Her curled hair draped down her back, the perfect shade of red to go with the dress. I still hadn't seen her face, but there was no mistaking that hair.
I was right. She didn't need much time to look good.
My perusal of her was cut off when she turned into the door to the restaurant and strode up to the hostess.
"Lucky day," I said to myself, curious to see who her date was and if he was the smart sophisticated doctor-like gentleman I could picture her with.
The hostess started to lead her through the same maze of tables I had walked through and as they got closer, I wondered at the coincidence that her date was in the same restaurant and, from the looks of it, possibly at the table next to mine. I tore my eyes away from Aiden who was concentrating on not running into anything and my heart stuttered to a halt, my hands starting to sweat when the hostess met my gaze then smiled as she came to a stop next to me.
At my table.
"Here we are, Miss."
The look on Aiden's face when she finally saw me had to be the exact visual replica of the way I was feeling sitting there like an idiot, staring at what I had come to realize was my MysteryGirl.
"What the fuck?" The hostess flinched at my outburst, but I didn't give a shit. This had to be some kind of joke.
"You're Dreamy?" Aiden gasped.
"You're MysteryGirl?"
The now frowning hostess hurried away as Aiden's face began to turn bright red, almost as red as her hair and I felt like a complete dick. I should have seen the signs. Artist, hot date, funny as hell. Of course Mystery Girl is Aiden.
She's fucking perfect for me. In. Every. Way.
Realizing that made me wish I would have seen it sooner before I was a complete asshole to her all those times. Whatever she was about to do, I deserved one hundred and fifty percent.
Before I could say anything, even process anything beyond the fact that she was the woman I had been communicating with this whole time, she turned on her sexy as hell heels and took off through the obstacle course of linen covered tables, knocking over a centerpiece or two, and all but running out the front door.
My jaw was still flat on the table, but now I was drooling. Curves I had never noticed before were moving quickly away from me.
Yes, I deserved it.
No, I wasn't going to accept it.
It only took me another two seconds to make my decision.
I had waited too long for her. Too long trying to convince her to meet me in person. Too long lying awake at night wondering what she looked like. Too long imagining her body wrapped around mine while we talked for hours on end.
MysteryGirl was mine. MysteryGirl was Aiden. Therefore, Aiden… yeah, she was going to be mine, too.
I was watching her hurry down the sidewalk while I attempted to scoot out of the booth without taking my eyes off of her.
"Excuse me, sir. Will your date be returning?"
I quickly glanced at the now more hopeful hostess and grinned, "No. We are both leaving. Thank you for the table and I apologize that we won't be using it."
I didn't wait another second. I flew by her and my eyes found Aiden once more as I reached the glass front door. She was folding that body into a cab and my heart thumped wildly against my chest.
"You can run, Red. But you can't hide."

About The Author:

I live in Morgan Utah with my husband, daughter, and dog, Kolo. I write as often as my active daughter will let me and my husband has the patience of a saint. I find inspiration from dreams, people I meet, and life experiences. When I write, I usually end up drinking one too many cans of Peace Tea, eating three too many Fruit by the Foot fruit snacks, and accidentally kicking my pup and best buddy, Kolo, too many times since he loves to sleep under my desk at my feet.
I started writing as a teen, but my fear of the unknown won out every time and I threw everything out. After becoming a mother and deciding to stay at home to raise my beautiful little girl, I tried again when I couldn't stop thinking of ideas. I loved every minute, every hour of sleep lost, and every character that came to life in my mind.
It's strange, but my favorite moments are when I have writer's block because I can turn to my husband and find inspiration through him by just doing what we do best together. Talking, laughing, and just being in love. He doesn't like to read, but he never stops encouraging me to keep going.
Writing has become an important part of my life and every book has a special place in my heart.

Twice the Growl
by Milly Taiden

~~ Synopsis ~~

Paranormal Dating Agency Book 1

Talia Barca needs a date. Badly. She uses the services of the Paranormal Dating Agency hoping for a decent guy to take to a family wedding. A wedding her ex-husband has wormed his way into as a guest.

Connor and Theron want Tally to complete their Alpha triad. She's sexy, curvy and funny. But she's human. And they're not sure she'll go for a relationship with two men at the same time.

As if deciding to give two men a shot wasn’t difficult enough, Tally will also need to deal with a threat from the pack. She'll either prove she's strong enough to be an Alpha mate or find herself at the mercy of a vicious opponent.

Reader Warning: This book contains lots of scorching sex (including a threesome so hot it will make your ereader sizzle), adult language (hanky panky with no dirty talk is no fun), and violence. If this is not the kind of stuff you like to read, skip this book. However, if you like dirty, raunchy sex with some sarcasm and two hot men on one curvy girl, then this is right up your alley. Enjoy!

~~ Selina's 4 Star Review ~~
Twice the Growl by Milly Taiden is about a woman named Talia that has found herself in quite a dilemma.  Talia has been invited to her cousin’s upcoming wedding festivities as well as her ex-husband Paul.  Now, Tally is in a bind because she doesn’t want to have a run in with her EX while dateless.  Good thing her cousin Nita knows about a certain matchmaker who lives really, really close.  Did Nita mention it was a shifter matchmaker?  Probably, but the thing is to get Tally on board with it.

Insert Theron and Connor.  Theron is the scruffy, tattooed, dark haired Alpha and Connor is the blonde, clean cut Omega.  Theron and Connor run the Wildwoods pack together.  However, they are missing their third to make up their Alpha Triad.  Little did they know that Theron’s Auntie Gerri (the matchmaker) already has someone in mind…

“Have you ever had a ménage?”  -Gerri

“She choked on the tea she had in her mouth.  Gerri passed her a napkin without batting an eye, as if used to that kind of reaction.”-Tally

Milly sure knows how to create some HOT Alpha males.  I still have to fan myself when I think back to Theron and Connor.  Milly had me gripping my Kindle a little too hard.  The story was told well and had me wanting more.  I’ve read several of Milly’s series and just can’t get enough of all the male Alpha-ness she writes.  I’m such a huge fan of Milly and I’m never let down when I read her books.

I really loved how Theron and Connor treat their leading lady Tally.  This Novella has a geeky Cousin, a crazy shifter matchmaker, a douchebag EX, family you just want to slap…really freaking hard, and last but not least two very Dominate shifters and a sassy mate.  I would recommend this do my friends.
I can’t wait to read Geek Bearing Gifts!

 ~~ Selina's 4.5 Star Review ~~

Leverage (The Brannock Siblings Series #1) by Jessica Wilde is about two very stubborn characters named Aislinn (ASH-ling) and Lucas.  You also have an over protective Irish father and his two sons trying to put the only female tucked away in a high tower, permanently. There’s some bribing, smooth talking, and lots of threats to do bodily harm to anyone who hurts their little angel.  Except now she’s not so little anymore.  She’s a grown woman and is really starting to resent how her family has been treating her.

You have Ash who is this awkward and dorky woman that has the worst luck with men.  Seriously, it’s quite sad but comical.  I sound so cruel but it’s true.  The book starts out with Ash having to move back home because of a crappy situation and unfortunately for her, that means she has to start from scratch.

Or is it unfortunate?

Then, there is the man of the hour, Mr. Lucas Shade and all his sexiness. I mean come on; Ash never even had a chance.  So, let’s go down the list shall we? Tall-Check.  Brooding-Check.  Handsome-oh yeah, checking that baby right off.

Mr. Lucas works with Ash’s father as a detective.  Ash’s father is the Chief of Police and has taken Lucas under his wing and treats him just as he would his other two sons.  It also doesn’t hurt that Lucas also grew up with the Brannock bunch.  However, having an in with the family doesn’t mean you get a free pass to the youngest…Ash.

While Ash and Lucas are trying to figure out what they mean to each other, an unexpected situation has occurred and people they love are in danger.

This book has the whole nine yards, love, family, danger, thrill and excitement.  Ash’s character had me cracking up from page one.  Seriously, her moments of gawking and inner monologue are priceless and her chiding moments are something to giggle about.

“The wink.”

“The famous wink that caused me to never have any girlfriends, they were extremely jealous of me because he only ever winked at me.  I always thought it was because he knew I was the only one who could handle the force of that sexy tease and unleashing it on the other girls of the world would lead to the dwindling of mankind because women would never settle for anything less than Lucas.”

I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to start Conned which is the second book in the series.

~~Selina's 4 Star Review~~

Enticed by You by Amy Muscat are about two people, Peyton and Keller, who grew up together and have a lifetime of young memories.  However, under awful circumstances, each went their separate ways without the other and grew up to be two very different people.

Peyton is a character that I admire.  As a single mother, she put herself through things that would shame people. Peyton did what others are sort of intimidated to go through, but she did it.  Peyton sacrificed her dignity and had people question her integrity just to make sure her daughter didn’t want for nothing.  It was heart breaking at parts when little Ivy, Peyton and Keller’s five year old little girl, would ask about her father.  I actually had to take a break because I became an emotional mess.

Keller is this goofball, dirty talking, alpha with a heart of gold.  He can make you blush and swoon pretty much simultaneously.  I just love reading about men who love their women and don’t care who knows it.  My heart may have melted throughout the book.

“He said that everyone loves some pie.  That they were always warm and when you got a slice of pie, it made a person happy and he was always happy when I was with him.” –Keller to Peyton

There were some grammar errors.  Such as using the word “they” instead of “they’re” and some run on sentences.  Those were a bit distracting I’ll have to admit but it didn’t take too much away from the story.  There were also a lot of fillers that could have been flushed out.

I really actually enjoyed Enticed by You.  I stayed up all night and have the book hangover to prove it.  The story had a great plot and good execution; just a few things needed to be tweaked.  There is no cliffhanger but maybe a second with the side characters?   I really want to know more about Lottie and Blake’s story.  I hope there is a second book… hint, hint.  I’m keeping an eye out for this author and her future novels that are hopefully to come.
