~~Selina's 4 Star Review~~

Forgiving Reed by C.A. Harms is a book about your first heart break, your first great love, and the soul crushing tragedy that comes with it.  It’s about being strong for the people that need you to be, accepting help, and the acceptance of what already is.  It’s about love, lose, and forgiveness.  I truly am baffled how C.A. Harms is able to make me feel heart ache and happiness in one beautifully written book.

Kori’s character is someone who you wish was in your life.  She struggles through so much yet is such a strong woman and mother. She raises Rhett, her son, back home on her parent’s farm after the unthinkable happens that leaves her a shell of the woman she once was.  She slowly starts to heal but there’s a factor she didn’t put into her equation—Reed.

Reed betrayed Kori when they were younger and that left her broken.  So she leaves for college across the country.  Then she meets Blake, Rhett’s father, and Blake shows her how to love again. When catastrophe strikes, Kori’s world is turned upside down.

C.A. Harms wrote an awesome book that brought both sad and happy tears.  I really enjoyed the way she executed the story line and plot.  The reading was smooth and I had a hard time putting the book down.  I connected with the characters and although I hated.  Let me repeat.  I HATED Reed in the beginning. I actually grew to love him.  I’m talking about “why the heck don’t I have me one of them in my life” kind of love. Reed is total swoon worthy book boyfriend material.  I mean come on, he has thrusting thighs!

I did feel like there was an unresolved issue involving trespassing and a vehicle.  I don’t want to give anything away but I feel like there should have been quite a bit more info.  I felt like I was left hanging on that issue.  I hope it’s going to have some sort of conclusion in the second, maybe …third book?

Other than that minor issue, I truly did enjoy this book.  I really can’t wait for the second book, Finding Gavin.  Now that’s one man that has got to have some issues.

Blog Tour for The One by Kimberly Knight

The Halo Series
The One
book #2
 by Kimberly Knight book

~~Synopsis~~

Avery and Nicole's story.

Avery Scott is a hopeless romantic, the complete opposite of his best friend, Easton. For most of his life, he’s been searching for that someone special to spend the rest of his life with. The problem is, he’s had nothing but bad first dates with crazy women he’s met online or at his bar, Halo. When he hears about a singles cruise, his plan is to meet a lot of single women, to test the waters, but when a blonde consumes his every thought, he throws that plan overboard.

Nicole Chambers has had her fair share of heartbreaks. She’s tired of being single or dating guys with girlfriends. She wants to find The One. So she convinces her best friend, Brooke, to go on a singles cruise with her. What she doesn’t expect is to fall head over heels with the first guy she meets.

But what happens once the cruise ends?

Life isn’t always fairytales and rainbows…

And meeting The One doesn’t always mean finding your happily ever after. Because life can give you a precious gift and then dangle it in front of your eyes and you’re left questioning where to go with your future—or if you even have one.

~~Selina's 4 Star Review~~

The One is Book Two in The Halo Series. Nicole is this loving person who has pretty crappy luck with finding available good men. Avery is a romantic at heart waiting for The One.  Both have crazy chemistry between the two and in the second installment of the Halo Series, we finally get to hear their side of it.  The One stays in the same time line as Tattooed Dots, but we get what we’ve all been dying to know… Nicole and Avery’s POV of their love whirl romance.

Kimberly Knight really knows how to write a beautiful novel with believable problems that couples actually go through.  Some of these problems can break a relationship and some can make a relationship grow stronger.  I don’t want to give anything away which is why I’m being so vague.

Avery’s character pretty much wore his feelings on his sleeves. He talks about finding the one and gets excited about the possibilities. (I wish more men were like that)
Nicole is that one friend who finds love in all the wrong places, and you feel bad for her because she is this great girl that can’t catch a break.

Their relationship status is pretty steady throughout the whole book.  There are some plot twists in this book but nothing that worried me too much.  I did enjoy this book and I got the chance to read Nicole and Avery’s POV on their journey but I felt the mystery was not so much in this book.  I loved reading Tattooed Dots and it was awesome and sweet and I wanted so much to hate Easton but ended up falling for him just like Brooke did.  However, reading Tattooed Dots kind of took the thunder away from The One.  Reading The One, I was able to get a different perspective on a different couple throughout the same timeline as Tattooed Dots, but I felt some of it was kind of common knowledge. Yes, there were some knew things that we didn’t know so much in the previous novel but there were some (I felt) were repetitive.

Don’t get me wrong I really liked this book and would recommend it to my friends.  I think Kimberly Knight is a fabulous writer.  She’s able to give you a great heartwarming story.  I just felt that with a different book and different characters it would have steered away from the other couple in the book.  But I get that it would have been difficult to do considering in the first book Tattooed Dots, Avery and Nicole where there in the background constantly.
So to sum it up I liked the book but I would’ve liked to have read Avery and Nicole’s story set maybe on a different timeline than Tattooed Dots.

~~Excerpt~~

“Come with me for a second?” Avery asked, whispering into my ear.
I shivered as his breath tickled my ear, causing goose bumps. I looked up at him silently questioning where he wanted to take me, but really, it didn’t matter. “Okay.” I stood.
“We’re going for a walk,” Avery murmured to Brooke and Easton. They barely registered what he’d said. Brooke was laughing with Easton—something that I hadn’t seen her do in a long time. Even her beautiful brown eyes had a twinkle to them.
“Where are we going?” I asked as we started to walk through the crowd.
“This way.”
He linked our hands as we walked to the lounge through the doors that led to the side deck. It was quiet, just a few people making out. We stood against the railing looking out into the open water. All I could see was the Pacific Ocean. No birds. No land—just calm blue water and the ship making little waves as we parted the water.
The heat from Avery’s body radiated off him as his left arm pressed into my right. I wanted more than just his arm touching me. I wanted to know what his mouth felt like on mine. I wanted to know the way he tasted, and the way his hands felt on my body.
“It’s crazy that we’re surrounded by nothing but water,” I said, the wind whisking around us causing my hair to fly in my face.
“Yeah, it is.”
I looked over at him as he spoke, his mouth moving closer with each word. I licked my lips, anticipating the moment his mouth met mine. The seconds felt like hours, and everything was in slow motion as he leaned down, brushing my hair aside with his hand before his lips finally met mine.
It started off slow, like he was testing the waters, testing my reaction. I felt his tongue slip out between his lips, silently asking me to open to him. I moaned, doing what he asked and opened up, allowing his tongue to slip in and take a swipe to taste me. I’d never had a kiss be so slow. So passionate. So right.
Avery’s lips were soft and they fit perfectly with mine. Like they were made for me to kiss…only me.
My hands reached up, running through his silky hair, our bodies stepping closer to one another until they were flush. I felt Avery’s arousal and if he could feel mine, he’d know I want to do more than kiss.
Just as our kiss intensified, we were bumped hard into the railing. I broke our kiss, looking at the couple stumbling as they tried to walk. They didn’t even bother to say they were sorry for running into us.
“Are you okay?” Avery asked.
“Yeah.”
“We should get back to our friends,” he said with a tight smile. Avery looked as bummed as I felt about the assholes breaking up our kiss.
“Yeah.”
He reached down and grabbed my hand again. I smiled because even though we’d lost our moment, what was happening between us wasn’t going to stop at one kiss. Maybe we would just talk, get to know each other. But if I was right, his lips were made for me and I wasn’t going to let some drunk assholes ruin my moment.
Wait.” Avery halted us just before we rounded the corner to the pool. “I want to do that again. Tonight,” he said, looking at my mouth.
I smiled. “Me, too.”
Good.” He smiled back.
