Finding Gavin is the second book in the Southern Boys
Series. In the first book, Forgiving
Reed, we were introduced to the side characters Gavin and Maria. Though Maria was the best friend to Kori and
played an important role in the first book, Gavin was kind of a blimp on radar. You had a feeling there was more to Gavin
than some of the bits and pieces we were thrown.
I would recommend you read the first book only because if
you haven’t, then you might feel like you missed a few key moment’s between the
main characters, Maria and Gavin. Even
though a different couple is front and center in this book, I couldn’t really
help but noticed there seemed to be an equation missing involving the main characters. It starts off with A but skips to C.
The character development in books is something I’m always
looking for. For any kind of
circumstances I feel the character needs to grow and not revert back to their
previous state without truly learning life’s lesson, or this case ‘fiction’s
lesson’. I find that C.A. Harms has a
way of bringing the most undesirable characters that you’d love to hate, into
the characters that will end up being in your heart forever.
The story line thought a little rough in the beginning was
beautifully written. I swear every time I
read one of C.A. Harms novels I’m always finding myself getting chocked up and
leaking from my eyes. I don’t know how
she does it but I swear it’s like I’m right there with the characters, feeling
the same pain they are.
These characters go through some trails that I think make
them stronger. Another thing that I notice
is C.A. Harms writes about strong woman.
I can’t tell you how much I loathe reading about a weak woman who lets a
man walk all over her, especially when the man is supposed to be the “Hero”.
I would recommend this book to anyone who
likes them cowboys and them ‘thrusting thighs’.
I would recommend to anyone who enjoys reading about couples who go
through some serious issues and possibly learn from them. This is a great read when you have some time
to yourself because if you get lost in this book like I did, I’m pretty sure
you’re going to cry. And seriously no
one should be subjected to my ugly cry tears.
