Shattered by Love by C.A. Harms is a story about unrequited love, stubbornness, and trying to start fresh with the people you love. Max has taken the part of leader with his brothers. He is the brother who everyone goes to for help. Max has taken the role of protector and has striven to stay the best. Not taking the chance to see what is right in front of him with Bree because she is a weakness and he is not weak. He takes what Bree has and uses her weakness for his benefit knowing Bree can’t say no.
Bree has been in love with Max since she first met him and will give herself to him even though she knows it will never be reciprocated. Just knowing that he loves her physically is enough for her. But that was then and this is now. Bree has realized that she deserves more than just the drunken night booty calls. She wants more with Max, but when confronted, Max doesn’t want to show weakness, so he denies Bree once again.
A come to Jesus moment happens to Max and he is left with the what-if’s. Now, Max realizes that things can happen in an instant and change everything forever.
I thoroughly enjoy reading C.A. Harms books. She has a way of grabbing your emotions and stringing them like a puppet. I still get amazed when I can read a book and experience a roller coaster ride without ever leaving my lazy boy chair.
Max’s character is a stubborn jackass who you want to slap across the face on a good day. Don’t get me started on the bad. But Max grows on you the further you get in the book. You start to get a better picture of his reasoning for being the tool in his past, even if they are bassackwards.
Bree’s character is heart breaking at times. You want to throttle her and say “give up woman!” but I think that’s what makes her character the strong woman she is because she doesn’t throw her cards away all at once. Her past is what builds the character and make the readers and the characters appreciate her more.
Angst, love, Alpha and compassion are what I wanted and C.A. Harms delivered.

C.A. Harms is like any other addicted reader. She enjoys happy endings and HEA love stories. She hasn't always been a lover of Romance and had once been addicted to a good Mystery. Just recently she has taken on a new liking and now is a full blown Romance novel addict.
